What is Family Game Night?
Family Game Night is a great way to spend quality time together and create a family tradition that you and your kids will remember and cherish for years to come.It really isn't hard to get started..even though it may seem difficult in this day and age to plan a special time, you can MAKE THE TIME if you just TAKE THE TIME!
1. Mark your calendar one night each weekand plan for this to a time when the answering machine service takes care of thephone calls and no one except YOU and YOUR KIDS (and of course the grandparents if possible) will enjoy this time together.
2. Eat dinner together, clear the dinner dishes, and clean off the table.
3. Get the excitement started by getting out your favorite game, whether it be Monopoly or Scrabble or Go Fish!
4. Put a bowl of popcorn and a pitcher of juice on the table. (eat healthy snacks!)
5. Let the games begin!

What will it do for the kids?
Social Interaction:
Gameplay allows your kids to learn from you and from each other. It encourages a sense of connectedness and respect among family members.
Learning:
Games are a learning tool. For instance, Clue is good for learning deductive reasoning. Scrabble is ideal for teaching math and spelling skills. Throw 'N Go Jenga is perfect for teaching hand-eye coordination.
Life Skills:
Games teach kids important life skills such as patience, concentration, teamwork and perseverance.
Everybody wins when the family plays a game together.

One of the biggest benefits of the family game night may lie in the EDUCATIONAL aspects for your child. Such elements as scoring, keeping track of wins/losses, taking turns, being fair, all of these companents of social interaction when playing a game come into "play" (pardon the pun!)
